Well, what a fantastic weekend we all had in Buxton this weekend. Anne Mann, Sue Geldhill, Suzanne Pearson and Joanne Reay all exhibited their work as part of Buxton's Art Trail during Buxton's Fringe Festival which continues on until the 22nd July.
We had a fantastic venue at St Anne's Community Centre which was situated just at the rear of St anne's Church by the side of the Art Gallery. We had tea and coffee on hand with lots of lovely homemade cakes. The turnout was high which just shows that the commitee members, (Suzanne Pearson being one of them), had done a great job in organising and promoting the event. It is certainly one not to miss next time which will be in 2014 as it is a biannual event. Heres some pictures of our venue. The 2012 Astound exhibition at the Nicholson Institute in Leek, Staffordshire opened on Saturday 26th May and attracted in excess of 250 visitors, many Italians who had visited Leek to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the twinning between Leek and Este. The exhibition consists of the current art work from all students of the Foundation Degree in Contemporary Art Practise course which is run from Leek College. Details of the 3 year part time course can be found on the Leek College website.
Meanwhile, Totally Locally Leek had organised extra stalls to run alongside the Italian Food Market and the regular market traders to include arts and crafts which will hopefully become a regular occurence. Leek College had a stall run by Celia and some First Year Foundation Degree students, Also Joanne Reay had her own stall, selling prints and cards of her work which proved to be popular. Joanne Reay will be exhibiting her latest work at the Moorland Makers Artists Market at the Co-op Emporium in Leek. You will be able to purchase original pieces of artwork, alongside Giclee Prints and greetings cards.
The link below will take you to the organiser's website. The event is taking place on Saturday 19th May 2012. All welcome! http://leekartspace.ning.com/page/the-co-op-emporium Suzanne Pearson has been in the printing studio.
Based on sketches drawn 'Plein Air' in Buxton, Suzanne has created woodcuts and using her natural flair for colour and composition, she has produced these wonderful prints. If you would like to take a look - click here. It's worth it!! Welcome to the new Contemporary Mix Artist's website!
We are a group of contemporary artists who met at Leek College whilst attending the Contemporary Art Practice Foundation Degree and we continue to exhibit together. Our work covers many areas from mixed-media and photography to textiles and painting. In this blog we would like to share with you all of our endeavors as a group and as individuals as often as possible, so please keep checking back to see what we have been upto. |
